Electronic monitoring
An offender or person on bail/on a curfew order/home detention curfew at the end of a prison sentence has an electronic tag. The tag, worn on the ankle or wrist, is linked to a computer and monitors where the offender is, it alerts the monitoring services if the offender is absent during the curfew hours.
Evidence
Evidence, in its broadest sense, includes anything that is used to determine or demonstrate the truth of a statement.
Expert witness
Person employed to give specialist evidence on a subject in which they are qualified or have expertise.
Extended sentence
If the Court believes that an offender may pose a risk to the public after their release, it can impose additional supervision when the offender is released on licence.
